Getting Started

  1. Connect the K3's RS-232 connector to a serial port on your computer using a standard serial cable or a USB to Serial Adapter such as the Elecraft KUSB.
  2. Use the Port page to choose the serial port used. Click Test Communications to verify the connection.
  3. Select the Firmware tab to check or update your K3's firmware.
  4. If you wish to change the location of the K3 Firmware Folder from the default location, click Browse and choose your folder.
  5. Select the Copy New Files from Elecraft Server check box and then click Check Versions Now. The latest firmware files will be copied from the Elecraft file server to your firmware Folder. Then the firmware versions in your Folder are compared with the firmware versions in your K3; you will be informed if newer firmware is available.
  6. If new firmware is available, click Send All New Items to K3 to update the K3's firmware.

    7. The firmware update process takes just a few minutes.
