The K3 has two banks of four "CW Message Memories" which may be used for CW or CW-to-Data messages. Each message may be as long as 250 characters.
This dialog allows you to view or modify the K3's CW Memories.
Each of the input areas will accept the characters that the K3 can send as Morse Code. Common CW prosigns may be stored by using the special characters indicated.
| Symbol | Prosign | Morse |
|---|---|---|
| _ | AA | (.-.-) |
| + | AR | (.-.-.) |
| % | AS | (.-...) |
| = | BT | (-...-) |
| ( | KN | (-.--.) |
| * | SK | (...-.-) |
| ! | VE | (...-.) |
A tilde (~) represents a half-space character, which may be used to add additional spacing between characters.
A vertical bar "|" encodes the "immediate exit" character IM (..--) that may be stored in a CW memory to immediately terminate a data mode transmission, and has no effect on CW transmission. Characters to the right of a vertical bar are not written during Save.
The eight memory input areas support the Windows standard clipboard operations Select All (Ctrl+A), Copy (Ctrl+C), Cut (Ctrl+X), and Paste (Ctrl+V).
The contents of these message memories may be played back (transmitted) by pressing message button M1 through M4 on the K3's front panel. Switch banks by holding the REC button. See the CW Message Record/Play topic in the Basic Operation, CW mode section of the Elecraft K3 Owner's Manual.
Reading and writing these memories takes some time. Please be patient. All eight memories are read when the dialog is opened. Only changed characters are written during Save.
